There is such controversy over salvation and the Holy Spirit and the role He plays.
Mark 1:4 John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (for salvation)
Many believe that when you get saved you receive the Holy Spirit, and that is the ONLY baptism of the Holy Spirit. BUT, If that was the only baptism then why did Jesus tell His disciples to wait for the promise from the Father?
Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem UNTIL they RECEIVED what the Father had promised which is POWER from ON HIGH.
In the upper room tongues of fire appeared on the heads of those waiting for the promise of the Father; not a fire that burns on the outside to hurt, but One that burns on the inside to HEAL. They began to speak in other tongues (a language that wasn’t their native tongue).
Some denominations believe that speaking in other tongues has past away OR is of the devil. This is because of ignorance. Jesus would never give someone the GIFT of the Holy Spirit if it were of the devil; since they are in opposition to one another.
I KNOW for a fact the devil has counterfeit tongues, because I’ve encountered this. While I was praying with a woman who I went to church with one day, I had a yucky feeling (a check) in my spirit as soon as she started praying in a language I couldn’t understand.
A few years later I saw her again after not seeing her for years. She told me that she had received a new prayer language and that she was told by the Lord that the language she was speaking in before wasn’t from Him.
Jesus clearly made a distinction between Johns baptism and receiving the BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit in Act. 1:5.
There is a scripture that rarely if ever gets quoted and I would like to share that now:
Acts 10:44-47: While Peter was still speaking these words the Holy Spirit fell upon ALL those who were listening to the message.
V.45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
V.46 For they were HEARING them SPEAKING WITH TONGUES AND EXALTING GOD. Then Peter answered,
V.47 Surely no one can refuse the WATER for these to be BAPTIZED who HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT just as we did, can he?
Romans 10:12-13 There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of ALL, abounding in riches for ALL WHO CALL on Him;
V.13 For “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
When you get saved you qualify for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the prayer language that God has for you. Just ask Him for it. He’s is a Good Father and will NOT reject anyone who comes to Him with a pure heart.
There was a thief on a cross who is in heaven with Jesus right now. While hanging beside Jesus, he said, “Lord, please remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Today I tell you, you will be with Me in Paradise.”
The thief didn’t do anything special; He just SIMPLY BELIEVED that Jesus is the Christ of God. That is how easy it is to be saved and also to receive the GIFT of the Holy Spirit. Just ask.
Is God still baptizing people in the Gift of the Holy Spirit?
Yes, ASK AND BELIEVE by faith and you will receive POWER from on High. The Powerful GIFT of the Holy Spirit.
