Righteousness speaks; whether it’s based on law or faith.
V.4 For Christ is the END of the law for righteousness to everyone WHO BELIEVES.
V.5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on LAW shall LIVE BY that righteousness.
V.6 BUT the RIGHTEOUSNESS based on FAITH SPEAKS as follows: DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, ‘WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?’ (that is to bring Christ down),
V.7 Or ‘WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?’ (that is to bring Christ up from the dead).
V.8 But what does it say? “THE WORD (which is God) IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART” that is, the WORD OF FAITH which we are preaching.
V.9 That if you CONFESS with your MOUTH Jesus as Lord, and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you WILL BE SAVED;
V.10 For with the heart a man believes, resulting in righteousness, and WITH THE MOUTH he confesses, resulting in salvation.
The POWER behind these scriptures is amazing! God IS THE WORD (John 1:1-2) Jesus was with Him when He SPOKE and CREATED!
The exciting part; is that He has given us the SAME MANDATE
V.22 and Jesus answered saying to them, “HAVE FAITH IN GOD.”
V.23 “Truly I say to you, WHOEVER SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does NOT DOUBT IN HIS HEART, but BELIEVES that what he SAYS is going to happen, IT WILL BE granted you.
V.24 Therefore, I SAY to you, ALL THINGS for which YOU PRAY and ASK, BELIEVE that YOU HAVE RECEIVED them, and they WILL BE granted you.
There IS a stipulation though; you MUST FORGIVE. Forgiveness is NOT AN OPTION it’s a command. There is NOTHING that we ever go through that was as painstakingly difficult as what Jesus went through on the way to the cross; when He was nailed to the cross for YOU. We ALSO, forgive BY FAITH as an act of our WILL. Not because we want to BUT BECAUSE He said to.
Do you have a painful memory from childhood that is keeping you bound (meaning that you think about it all the time? That is God showing you that you haven’t truly forgiven? Jesus forgave you; why don’t you forgive? If you refuse to forgive, God won’t forgive you of your sins. (Mark 11:26)
Remember the slave who owed the King ALOT of money? The King forgave him the debt (like a years worth of pay); but what did the slave do? He went out and found a fellow slave who owed him ONLY A DAYS wage. When that slave begged for forgiveness the slave who’d been forgiven a large amount would NOT forgive the other slaves debt and beat him and threw him into prison. When the owner (the King) of the slave who was forgiven the debt found out about it, he found that wicked slave and through him into prison until he paid the last cent.
I know that this sound a little off the subject of Righteousness but it isn’t; a righteous man forgives and will go SPEAK to the person who they have “issues” with and asks for forgiveness; even if it WASN’T their fault. I promise you, it’s not easy; BUT it’s worth it. The point is, you want to be clean before God, right?
- Are you willing to SPEAK RIGHTEOUSNESS?
- Are you willing To DO THE WORD when it’s hard?
- Are you willing to be the RESPONSIBLE one and step out in FAITH to SPEAK?
YOUR FAITH speaks!
Does it speak Righteousness of the LAW or the RIGHTEOUSNESS of FAITH?
