Growing up if I was unable to accomplish something the first time I tried it, I would hear an encouraging word from my Mom; she would say, “if at first you don’t succeed try try again.” Encouraging because it made me go at it again UNTIL I accomplished what I set out to accomplish.
There are alot of people; FAMOUS people who have failed many times but kept going at it until they accomplished the desired goal. Here are a couple of examples; People like Abraham Lincoln a Republican who ran for office multiple times and had MUCH HARDSHIP throughout his life with his sons death and his wife’s illness which ultimately led to her death. He had many opportunities for discouragement, yet he kept getting up to go at it again.
Consequently Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States of America and wrote one of the most important historical documents in our Nations history the “Emancipation Proclamation” that freed black slaves so they could be their own person, not someone’s slave.
Take Thomas Edison for example, his inventions have had a profound impact on our society today. He was considered the greatest inventor of all times. Mr. Edison said; “When I have finally decided that a result is worth getting, I go ahead on it and make trial after trial until it comes.” He also said, “I find out what the world needs, then I go ahead and try to invent it.”
One of the most famous quotes of Edison was, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Had he given up every time he failed he might not have come to the brilliant discovery of the phonograph or the light bulb or motion pictures. He kept going on to do what God gifted him to do.
What has God gifted you to do?
One thing is for sure, you’ll never know if you can do something unless you give it a go. When God is training you; you will fail from time to time; that how you learn, but that doesn’t make you a failure, don’t ALLOW it to make you quit; LET it spur you on, because God has put greatness in you. He doesn’t make sub-culture human beings. You need to understand that you are so VALUEABLE that God sent His Only Son to come to the earth to die for you and if you were THE ONLY ONE; He would have still done it.
**When I first started learning about prophecy and that I could prophecy I became concerned with missing God; that I might say the wrong thing. I was taught to fill myself up with God’s Word to make sure that if I heard something that I believed was the Lord, to hold it up to the Word to see if it mirrored what God said, so that’s what I did.
I didn’t want to be deceived; but my wise Pastor said, “If someone says something to you that either you’re not believing for or doesn’t line up with the Word, put it on the back burner, if it’s meant for you it will come to pass, but you will not have lost any sleep over it.”
Instead of this making me quit seeking God, I pressed in to hear God’s voice to make sure I’m hearing clearly. My desire is to please God and obey Him; not in a SELF-righteous way but with a pure heart, it’s the pure in heart who will see God. I continue pursuing Him because I love Him and He continues loving me even when I mess up. That’s God’s love and grace!**
God KNOWS your heart and sees everything, good and bad and He still loves you; So if you don’t succeed at something at first don’t quit, try it again and again until you’ve mastered what’s in your heart and don’t stop there, keep going on to seek God for the things that He has for you.
Has He put a desire in your heart? A new business perhaps; a book; a movie etc…whatever that looks like for you as an individual go after it; if you haven’t accomplished it yet or failed a few times; so what! Get up and go at it again…
You CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS YOU!
